There is no more a spectacular city than Madrid combining a culture going back hundreds of years with the latest in ultramodern architecture. One of the best ways to get a feel of what it would be like living in such a city would be to from the air, and that’s why those considering spending some time in the city should take the trouble to make their way to the Parque del Oeste.

This is where they will find Madrid’s only cable car, that goes by the name of the Teleférico. The Teleférico, once a part of the Parque de Atracciones amusement park, is situated a few minutes walk from Argüelles Metro station.

Many who have taken the option of using the Teleférico to get a slow paced and short range aerial view of the city have picked out a nice location from above. ShMadrid tells you more on the cable car in Madrid in today’s blog article.

And if Spanish is not your language, then included in the price is a narrated explanation of what you are seeing as you hover high above the city taking all of its landmarks. These landmarks include the city’s wide streets and boulevards, littered with pavement cafes, the football stadium, the traditional architecture and the ultra-modern multi-storey office blocks,

Although the ride on the Teleférico takes less than fifteen minutes, it is amazing how much of the city you can see in that time. When the aerial journey is over, you can sit back in the beautiful surroundings of the Parque del Oeste, taking in the beautiful rose gardens while enjoying a refreshing cup of coffee or a cool drink, before moving on to your next location.

So if you have guests from abroad and you don’t want to bring them there for nothing, it is always advisable to call first or consult their website. Obviously as the weather gets warmer, the more frequent the operation, and if truth be told, you can really only get the best out of the Teleférico experience on a clear spring or summer day, when visibility is at its best.

Along the way it is possible to disembark at the Casa de Campo Park, which offers a restaurant and bar where it is possible to enjoy a nice meal or a cool drink while looking over the city from above. The park is located in the neighbourhood of Casa de Campo.

Among the many of Madrid’s most famous sights that can be viewed from the Teleférico include the Torrespaña communication tower, the Royal Palace, the Almudena Cathedral among many others.

Have you been in Madrid’s cable car? Did you enjoy the spectacular views?
