There are many special places to visit and see in Madrid. In fact, you probably already know most of them: the spectacular Gran V\u00eda, the Jardines de Sabatini, the Temple of Debod and what about La Azotea del C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes?<\/p>\n

All of these places are mentioned in tourist guides, and these come in handy every time you visit the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n

But today, the team from ShMadrid<\/strong><\/a> would like to share a few places with you that are more special than others, in order for you to enjoy these places as if you were a true Madrid resident.<\/p>\n

One of Madrid\u2019s most magical places is Bosque Encantado<\/strong>, located in San Mart\u00edn de<\/strong> Valdeiglesias<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The nature that surrounds you here will fill your heart and mind with peace and tranquillity. This location is absolutely perfect to have a lovely picnic<\/strong> <\/a>with family and friends.<\/p>\n

Bosque Encantado is a botanical garden with hundreds of different plant species, and besides this, you can also dream away at the soothing sound of its streams and waterfalls.<\/p>\n

You have probably already been to Retiro<\/strong><\/a>, which is one of the city\u2019s hallmarks, and maybe you have even rented a boat to discover every corner of this pond from the water, but have you also visited its viewpoint? This special location can be found inside the tower that commemorates Alfonso XII.<\/p>\n

Madrid has many municipal parks and gardens, but Quinta de la Fuente del Berro<\/strong> in Salamaca district<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 which is at least half a century old \u2013 is considered to be one of Madrid\u2019s most important historical gardens.<\/p>\n

You can see Madrid\u2019s landscapes<\/strong><\/a> like nowhere else from these gardens. They are also a good starting point to visit some of the most spectacular monuments. The park is close to the famous Calle O’Donnell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Have you heard of La Antigua Bodega de San Blas<\/strong>? Or have you already been there maybe? This is truly a location that will leave you speechless, having been constructed within the original stone arcades and with a surface of 360m2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

It used to be a winery in the 18th<\/sup> century, where they stored more wine jars than you can imagine. It has now become a fascinating place for commercials, presentations and other events, and it is even a film shoot location. The bodega is located in Cortes<\/strong>, in the neighbourhood of Las Letras<\/strong>, and it is very close to the Atocha<\/strong><\/a> train station.<\/p>\n

Besides visiting Madrid\u2019s incredible monuments and remarkable buildings, there are other fascinating places to see. One very charming and unique place is in the Guinness Book of<\/strong> Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We are talking about the oldest restaurant in the world<\/strong><\/a>, which is still open for business today.<\/p>\n

It first opened its doors at the beginning of the 18th<\/sup> century, and it is now visited by both locals and tourists.<\/p>\n

The restaurant is called Bot\u00edn<\/strong>, and it is such a classic that it even appears in the famous literary work by Benito P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s<\/strong> (Fortunata y Jacinta<\/strong>). Some of the restaurant\u2019s specialties are a lamb and roasted suckling pig. It is prepared the old fashioned way, in a wood-fired oven.<\/p>\n

When you travel to the town of Torrej\u00f3n de Ardoz<\/strong>, east of Madrid, you will find a very special place called Parque Europa<\/strong>. This is a park with 18 replicas of the most interesting monuments from all over Europe.<\/p>\n
