F.<\/a><\/strong> But the football team didn\u2019t always play there. Real Madrid C.F.\u2019s first official stadium was called <em>Estadio Chamartin<\/em>, which remained opened between the years of 1924 and 1947. Towards the end of <em>Estadio Chamartin<\/em>\u2019s existence, <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Santiago_Bernab%C3%A9u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u<\/strong><\/a> and Rafael Salgado bought the land located right by the decaying stadium. The pair hired architects Luis Alemany Soler and Manuel Mu\u00f1oz Monasterio and the plans for the new stadium started to take shape.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/stadium-263511_960_720.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4174\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4174 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/stadium-263511_960_720-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"santiago barnabeu\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/stadium-263511_960_720-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/stadium-263511_960_720-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/stadium-263511_960_720-810x608.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/stadium-263511_960_720.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Construction began in the fall of 1944 and three years later the <em>Nuevo Estadio Chamart\u00edn<\/em> was inaugurated, with a match between Real Madrid and the Portuguese team <em>Os Belenenses<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a major remodeling during the 50s, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/soccer-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stadium<\/a> grew in size to be able to accommodate as many as 125,000 spectators, becoming the largest stadium hosting games in the European Cup. It was in 1955 that, after a General Assembly of Members Compromisaros, the stadium changed its name to <strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u<\/strong>, in honor of Real Madrid C. F.\u2019s president.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the following years, <strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium <\/strong>went through a series of remodeling processes to improve comfort and to be able to receive other sporting events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, <strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium<\/strong> has a capacity of 81.044 spectators, with 245 VIP seats.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium Tour<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realmadrid.com\/en\/tour-bernabeu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium Tour<\/strong><\/a> includes a panoramic view of the stadium, a visit to \u201cBest Club in History\u201d room, Sensations Room, the pitch, the Presidential Box, the Real Madrid C.F. dressing room, the tunnel, the dugouts and the technical area, the press room, finishing with the official Real Madrid C.F. store.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tour lasts about an hour and a half. The tours to <strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium<\/strong> happen every day of the year, with the exception of the 25<sup>th<\/sup> of December and the 1<sup>st<\/sup> of January. On match days, the tours are available only until 5 hours before the beginning of the game, and a couple of hours after the game has ended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium<\/strong> is located at Avenida de Concha Espina, 1.
