One of the city&#8217;s 21 administrative districts, it contains 7 major barrios &#8211; Imperial, Las Acacias, La Chopera, Legazpi, Las Delicias, Palos de Moguer and Atocha. A revival of traditional Moorish features and concepts, it originated in Madrid late in the 19th century before eventually becoming common throughout the entire country.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>visiting Madrid<\/strong><\/a>, take a trip to this part of town and make sure you go to some of the historical buildings in which this unique artistic movement still lives on:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.pt\/maps\/place\/Matadero+Madrid\/@40.3912935,-3.6999277,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0xd422649fcbcbb33:0x87d5ff456d9c7f48!8m2!3d40.3916619!4d-3.6975885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Matadero Madrid<\/a> &#8211;<\/strong> Formerly a slaughterhouse, this charming building is now a dynamic centre for <strong>arts and creativity<\/strong>. It functions as an exhibition space, a cinema (with an emphasis on documentary films), a library and a workshop, amongst other things. A noteworthy highlight of the facilities is its &#8220;Avant Garden&#8221;, a showcase of innovative landscaping with several activities on offer for visitors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.pt\/maps\/place\/Centro+Cultural+de+la+Casa+del+Reloj\/@40.3930241,-3.7012829,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0xd422635e55b88ff:0xce81b526e2b45f0e!8m2!3d40.39302!4d-3.6990942\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Casa del Reloj<\/a> &#8211;<\/strong> This beautiful building used to function as the slaughterhouse&#8217;s central offices.
