And despite of the fact that Madrid is an inland city, the coast is a favourite holiday destination for many madrile\u00f1os, as the coast is still relatively nearby. Due to the short distance, it is a typical weekend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/charming-hotels-for-a-getaway-in-the-region-of-madrid\/\"><strong>getaway<\/strong><\/a> for many locals. <strong>La Playa de La Malvarrosa<\/strong> is one of Valencia\u2019s beaches closest to the capital. It is a nice area and very close by. The beach is approximately 2 kilometres long and about 60 metres wide. Fine sand and clear water make it a perfect destination. You can reach the beach in about three hours by car, but you can also take the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shmadrid.com\/blog\/en\/train-stations-madrid\/\"><strong>train<\/strong><\/a>, more specifically the AVE (Spanish high-speed train). Another option with dunes and pine forests is <strong>El Saler<\/strong>, which is<strong> 370 km<\/strong> from Madrid, or <strong>Cullera<\/strong>, at a distance of <strong>380 km<\/strong>, with fine sand and mountains. Besides these three beaches, there are more beaches to be found close to the capital on the coast of Valencia. A little over 300 kilometres away, or two and a half hours by train, you can enjoy a quiet beach in <strong>Canet d&#8217;En Berenguer<\/strong>, which is perfect if you want to avoid the crowded beaches of <strong>La playa de la<\/strong> <strong>Malvarrosa <\/strong>and<strong> La playa de la<\/strong> <strong>Gand\u00eda<\/strong>. You can relax on the heavenly beaches of <strong>La playa de<\/strong> <strong>la Granadella<\/strong> in <strong>J\u00e1vea<\/strong> or <strong>La playa de<\/strong> <strong>La Marineta Casiana<\/strong> in <strong>Denia<\/strong>, in just under an hour from Alicante&#8217;s capital. You will enjoy the magnificent views here. <strong>Barcelona<\/strong> is also a perfect destination, if you want to go to the beach and leave Madrid. It can be reached in just over two and a half hours by <strong>AVE<\/strong>. The magnificent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shbarcelona.com\/blog\/en\/best-beaches-maresme\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Maresme coast<\/strong><\/a>, with its wide beaches and nice sand is only a few kilometres from the city. And if you go down south, the <strong>Costa del Sol<\/strong> is one of the most popular coasts of our country with foreigners, so this is also a good option. In <strong>Malaga<\/strong>, which is the Andalusian city closest to Madrid, you can visit <strong>La Playa de<\/strong> <strong>Pedregalejo<\/strong>, a 1,200 metres long beach with six coves, and it\u2019s only three hours from the Spanish capital.
