Like any open market anywhere in the world the Mercado de San Fernando<\/strong><\/a> is not only a hive of activity, filled with all the fruits<\/strong><\/a> and vegetables of the seasons, bringing with them all of the numerous tastes, colors and smells of the city. In recent years the city authorities of Madrid have invested heavily in reviving the food<\/strong><\/a> markets of the city, and not only the Mercado de San Fernando but all the rest of the city\u2019s other five markets<\/strong><\/a> which are undergoing a revival as part of an urban renewal program which began in 1998.<\/p>\n
