Places to Go With Your Kids in Madrid

Written by Paula

When visiting a city with children, it’s important to reserve some – or most – of the time to go on child-friendly activities. After all, how fun is it visiting museums and historical monuments when you’re 10?

Here are some suggestions by ShMadrid of places to go with your kids in Madrid.

Much like Disneyland, Madrid’s Warner Brothers Park has a series of theme rides, featuring some of the most famous Warner Brothers characters. Superman, Yogi Bear and Scooby-Doo are only some of the characters with their own rides.

The park has its own hotel where you can stay if you want to spend the night. The amusement park opens at 11:30 am.

Be sure to check the full schedule online before visiting, since there are some days when the park is closed. Parque Warner is located at M-301 road, at San Martín de la Vega.

Teleférico de Madrid

Kids get excited (and sometimes a little scared) when they experience something completely new. If your kids have never had the opportunity to ride a cable car, they will sure get a kick out of riding Teleférico de Madrid.

Starting at Rosales or Casa de Campo station and ending at Centro de Gabarita, the cable car ride provides a fantastic view of the city, from the top. What is also cool is that Centro de Gabarita has a playground where you children can spend some time when you exit the teleférico.

Museu Nacional de Ciencias Naturales

Science can be fun, something not all children had the chance to discover yet. A great place to experience the cool side of science in Madrid is the Museu Nacional de Ciencias Naturales. There, kids will get to see loads of skeletons, fossils, minerals, and huge animal replicas, including a giant sloth.

The museum’s hours are from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays between 10 am and 8 pm, or 10 am to 3 pm during the months of July and August. You can find Museu Nacional de Ciencias Naturales at Calle José Gutiérrez Abascal, 2, in the neighbourhood of El Viso.

Parque de Atracciones

What kid doesn’t like an amusement park? Carousels, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, this park has a little bit of everything to keep the small ones happy for a full afternoon. The best thing about amusement parks is, they not only delight children, but they have the power to make adults feel like kids again.

Parque de Atracciones opens at 12 pm, closing at different times throughout the year. You can find Parque de Atracciones at Casa de Campo park in the district Moncloa-Aravaca.

Madrid Zoo Aquarium

If your children like animals, they will have a blast visiting Madrid Zoo Aquarium. They will get to see animals from several different countries in the world, including creatures that fly, creatures that crawl and creatures that swim.

Madrid Zoo Aquarium is open all year long from 10:30/11 am. You can find Madrid Zoo Aquarium at Casa de Campo park.

What is your children’s favourite place in Madrid?
