Our first activity would be descending the ravines of Cuenca. Many clients ask for activities in or near the water, in order to be able to survive the hottest months of Cuenca, which is close to Madrid. Activities like canyoning, abseiling or descending ravines are in high demand. And luckily anyone can take part in canyoning, as there are different canyons and several levels, corresponding with the flow of the river and the moment the activity takes place. And what about windsurfing, paddle surfing or sailing? Would you enjoy doing these activities in Madrid? No, we have not lost our marbles! You can actually practice all these types of sports, and many more, in Sierra Norte. You will find a series of lakes in the mountains near Madrid, that provide fun activities for you and your family. So there is absolutely no excuse anymore for not enjoying water sports in Madrid. In Sierra Norte, only a few kilometres from the city of Madrid, you will find the first nautical indoor station. Leave the city for a day and try some of the most amazing activities offered by companies in this area. If you are not a big fan of water, but do fancy archaeology, then you should definitely visit the Roman settlement, which was discovered in Alcalá de Henares.

The place is called Complutum and here you can discover the Roman city of Complutum, which lies on the river banks of Río Henares, a little over 20 km from Madrid. Its construction started in the 1st century BC by Emperor Augustus, whose urban project was based on the great wisdom of the Romans on urban planning: a grid of straight streets, arcades, forums, public baths and private houses, beautifully decorated for more developed civilizations. Visiting the archaeological park allows you to discover the area and its structures, with unique mosaics and mural paintings. Complutum was the origin for today’s Alcalá de Henares, a World Heritage Site since 1998 and a Good of Cultural Interest of the Community of Madrid since 1992. By visiting this site, it is therefore possible to get some basic knowledge of our towns and cities, and more specifically this town in the Community of Madrid. Our last summer activity is an activity that will surround you with trees. In a forest in the town of San Martín de Valdeiglesias you will find El Bosque Encantado, the most unique botanical garden in all of Europe. Take your time to relax in the shade, or get comfortably lost in its many paths, and don’t forget to enjoy the magic and beauty of more than three hundred plant and tree figures.

What other summer activity in Madrid would you recommend?
