The neighbourhood of Pacífico is located in the east of Madrid in the district of Retiro.

This district is bordered to the north by the Paseo de la Infanta Isabel, the Paseo de la Reina Cristina and the Avenida del Mediterráneo; bordered to the southeast by Calle del Doctor Esquerdo and Calle de Pedro Bosch; and bordered to the southwest by the Madrid-Barcelona railway connections.

The Avenida de la Ciudad de Barcelona was formerly known as the Avenida del Pacífico and is the neighbourhood’s main axis.

On this avenue you will find the Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Atocha, one of the most important religious buildings in Madrid and often visited by Spanish royalty members.

The neighbourhood is very well connected due to its proximity to the A-3 highway and M-30 motorway. Its extensive public transport consists of buses, metros (Atocha Renfe, Menéndez Pelayo, Conde de Casal and Pacífico) and commuter trains (Atocha). This is an ideal neighbourhood for anyone who wants to rent a flat in the district of Retiro.

Places of interest in the neighbourhood of Pacífico are the Royal Tapestry Factory Foundation, the Pacífico Engine Shed (Platform 0), the Official Nursing College and the metro stops of Menéndez Pelayo, Pacífico and Conde de Casal.

Another important sight is the Basilica of Our Lady of Atocha, the basilica where members of the Spanish Royal Family are traditionally being baptized.

The Pantheon of Illustrious Men is right next to the Basilica of Atocha, and it was built by Fernando Arbós y Tremanti between 1892 and 1899. This is the burial site for several late nineteenth and early twentieth century political figures.

Finally, it is also important to highlight the building of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, which was built in 1930. The Barracks of Daoíz y Velarde served as one of the most important places during the Spanish Civil War, but they were ruins for many years.

These barracks have been converted into a sports centre in 2003, and this really revitalized the whole neighbourhood.

It has actually turned the neighbourhood of Pacífico into the most sought after neighbourhood in the district of Retiro, and buildings in this area have therefore increased in value.
